11 Principles Of The Naqshbandi Sufi Order

11 Principles Of The Naqshbandi Sufi Order   The following eleven principles show the exercise aims of the Tariqat Naqshbandiya. The first eight were formulated by Khwaja Abd-al-Khaliq al-Ghujdawani and the last three were added by Khwaja Bahauddin Naqshband. 01-Yad Kard Remembrance or making mention, both oral and mental, be always repeating the Zikr imparted to you so that you may attain the beatific vision. Khwaja Bahauddin Naqshband said, “The aim in Zikr is that the heart be always aware of Al-Haqq[The Truth, a Beautiful Name of Allah], for its practice banished inattention.” 02-Baz Gasht Restraint: The person saying the Zikr when engaging in the heart repetition of the blessed phrase [shahada] should intersperse it with such phrases as “my God you are my Goal and your satisfaction is my aim”, to help keep one’s thoughts from straying. Other masters say that it means ‘return’ or ‘repent’ i.e. return to Al-Haqq by way of contrition [inkisar]. 03-Nigah Dasht Watchfulness: Over wande...

Fifty Words Of Wisdom From Prophet Muhammad (‘alayhis Salātu Was Salām)

Fifty Words Of Wisdom From Prophet Muhammad (‘alayhis Salātu Was Salām) 1.. "Acquire knowledge, it enables its professor to distinguish right from wrong; it lights the way to heaven. It is our friend in the desert, our company in solitude and companion when friendless. It guides us to happiness, it sustains us in misery, it is an ornament amongst friends and an armour against enemies." (widely attributed to the Prophet Mohammed (pbuh)) 2.. "A Muslim who plants a tree or sows a field, from which man, birds and animals can eat, is committing an act of charity." (Muslim) 3.. "There is a polish for everything that takes away rust; and the polish for the heart is the remembrance of Allah." (Bukhari) 4.. "What actions are most excellent? To gladden the heart of human beings, to feed the hungry, to help the afflicted, to lighten the sorrow of the sorrowful, and to remove the sufferings of the injured." (Bukhari) 5.. "The most excellent Jihad is tha...

The Story of the Visit of Satan, the Accursed

This story reaches us from two sources. In Efendi's Irshad is a Hadith through Hazrat Anas ibn Malik (ra). In the last chapter of Hazrat Muhyiddin ibn Arabi's book Shajarat al-kawn ("The Tree of Being") is a version derived from a Hadith related by Mu'adh ibn Jabal from Hazrat Anas (ra). It is given below, supplemented by additional information from Hazrat Anas' report. From us the humble retelling, from Allah the Understanding. One day a congregation was gathered at the home of one of the Ansar around the Prophet (saw). [According to Hazrat Anas it was Abu Ayyub] In the middle of a wonderful discourse an ugly voice from the outside was heard saying, "O the ones inside, (or , "O Messenger of Allah!") would you permit me to enter? I have business with you!" All looked at the Prophet (saw), who said to the ones present, "Do you recognize the owner of this voice?" The Companions answered, "Allah and His Messenger know best....

WHAT IS MEANT BY HAJJ MABRUR?

WHAT IS MEANT BY HAJJ MABRUR? Habib Ali al-Jifri (may Allah protect him and benefit us by him) asks what is meant by the term hajj mabrur? All praise is for Allah. Our master Muhammad ﷺ said: “The performance of `umrah is an expiation for the sins committed between it and the previous `umrah; and the reward of hajj mabrur is nothing less than Paradise.” The Mother of the Believers, Sayyidatuna Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: “O Messenger of Allah, us women consider jihad to be the best of actions. Should we not perform jihad?” He replied: “No. Rather, the best form of jihad is hajj mabrur.” What is meant by the term hajj mabrur which is the best form of jihad and the reward for which is Paradise? A variety of answers have been given in response to this question. In one hadith the Prophet ﷺ said that it is: “Giving food and spreading peace.” Ibn `Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) said it is: “`Ajj (yelling) and thajj (flowing),” meaning raising one’s voice saying...

Beware Tablighi Jamaat

The movement of Tableeghi Jamaat is being utilised by the enemies of  Islam as an effective instrument in their struggle to prevent the  emergence of a true  Islamic movement in Europe and elsewhere in the  world. Therefore, it is incumbent on all Muslims to disown it and  discourage its activity in every way. The British were continually  looking for ways of infiltrating and subverting Islam. They kept, through their comprehensive spy network, a very careful eye, on any  new Muslim group and movement. The Tableeghi Jamaat was set up under  the British Rule in India. After closely watching the Jamaat for some  time, the British realised that here was exactly what they were  looking for, a movement that totally absorbed the energy of its  members and yet did not threaten British domination in any way as the  doctrine of Jihad was totally absent in this movement. They saw that  instead of the Jamaat’s directing their energies outwardly towards  their legitimate Kaafir enemies, was now di...
